February 16th, 2015 - The Cleveland Park Firehouse (E28/T14/A28, and formerly BC5) will be hosting a 50th Anniversary memorial service for Private Charles M. Chamberlain who died in the line of duty on March 1, 1965. He was the 5th BFC Aide. He is the only member to have died in the line of duty from this station. It was Box 735, 3433 Connecticut Ave NW.

January 26th, 2015 - Local 36 would once again like to congratulate Fox 5 News reporter Paul Wagner on his IAFF Media Award. Mr. Wagner was awarded first place for "Best News Story, Series or Feature" by the IAFF. Mr. Wagner was presented his award at today's membership meeting by President Ed Smith, of Local 36.The story for which Paul was given the award is featured below. We are grateful to Mr. Wagner, for his vigilance, and attention given to this matter - it proved a point of contention long held by Local 36 and it's members, that the reserve fleet was not in the condition that the previous administration was presenting to the City Council and the citizens we are charged with protecting.
December 2nd, 2014 - The World Police & Fire Games will be held in the National Capital Region, in 2015. This event is the second largest multinational sporting event in the world - behind only the Summer Olympic Games. The events are only open to police officers and firefighters from around the world, and will be held all over the area. Many of our members are accomplished cyclists, softball, basketball, & football players; trap, skeet, pistol, & rifle shooters, biathletes, triathletes; Several Local 36 members are already involved with planning & participating in various events. for more information, click on the link below - the time to begin training is yesterday!
The Local 36 Fire Ops 101 Class was a smashing success! A very special thanks to all of the Local 36 members past & present who were there to help, and a very special thanks to Interim Fire Chief Eugene Jones for helping to get this off the ground. October 24th, 2014 - In Memory of Sgt. John Carter Died in the line of duty while operating at Box #872 on October 24th, 1997. Rest in Peace John, you are not forgotten by your brothers and sisters in Local 36.
October 9th, 2014 - The International Association of Firefighters has issued a First Place Award in it's annual Media Awards contest to MyFoxDC reporter Paul Wagner, for his coverage of the apparatus debacle plaguing the Department. June 17th, 2014 - Local 36 is working on a new program: The Membership Assistance Program. It is aimed specifically at members suffering from addiction issues, and is geared towards firefighter. June 7th, 2011 -The District of Columbia Fire & EMS Department's Pre-Hospital Treatment Protocols are now available online. They have been added to our Documents & Forms Library, in the Members Section. Navigate to the Members Section ( you will be required to log-in), and then to the folder titled 'EMS'. Our own L36 EMS Committee has created several self study tests, to assist the members with studying the material.
